Myanmar Cash Working Group

Cash transfer programming (CTP) has been implemented in Myanmar since Cyclone Nargis struck in 2008, though a Cash Transfer Working Group (CTWG) was not established until September 2013 with the support of CaLP. The Myanmar CTWG aims to strengthen coordination between actors implementing CTP and key stakeholders, and provide a platform to share information, experiences, best practice, and knowledge with a pool of CTP professionals. The group was initially supported by the World Food Programme (WFP), and now the lead agency rotates between Action Against Hunger/Action Contre le Faim (ACF), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), Oxfam GB, Save the Children, and Trócaire. Each agency will be responsible for hosting the Yangon CWG meeting on a regular basis. Additionally, due to on-going humanitarian operations, the Yangon CWG took the initiative to replicate the CWG model in Kachin and Northern Shan states.
