CaLP Director

The Role 

The Cash Learning Partnership (CaLP) is looking for a new Director to lead CaLP, the secretariat team and oversee CaLP’s work with members. Key dimensions of the role include:

  • Lead the processes of setting strategy, developing & delivering annual plans. Oversee their successful implementation.
  • Represent CaLP and manage relationships at a senior level with major humanitarian and private sector actors.
  • Ensure CaLP brings members together to deliver on their shared mission.
  • Position CaLP appropriately in relation to sensitive and contested policy debates, being a broker where appropriate.
  • Lead a dispersed staff team of c. 30 and an annual budget of £3m.
  • Build the CaLP secretariat staff team, into a high performing team with a positive working culture.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

 Essential

  • Substantial senior management and leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of the international humanitarian system, including the roles, priorities and politics of major actors.
  • Experience of Cash Transfer Programming in humanitarian aid.
  • Experience of working in a network environment.
  • Experience in delivering activities in some or all of CaLP’s strategic areas: capacity building, knowledge management & research, coordination (of cash programming) and policy.
  • Experience of managing restricted grants and relationships with humanitarian donors.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team-building skills, able to build relationships and support the dispersed staff team.
  • Diplomacy and gravitas to engage effectively with all stakeholders at senior level.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.

Desirable

  • Written and verbal communication skills in French or Arabic.
