Impacts of Cash on Nutrition outcomes

Following the presentation of the Grand Bargain agreement at the 2016 World Humanitarian Summit, the use of cash transfers has become a key component of humanitarian assistance and humanitarian actors and policy-makers increasingly recognize the need for more evidence-based interventions to support their programmes and policies. Action Against Hunger, in partnership with the World Food Programme, has developed the RESEARCH 4 ACTION methodology to build on evidence to inform action. This methodology – developed with research, technical and programme teams- includes 3 stages: 1 – What does the evidence say? 2-What should be done? 3-How can recommendations be translated into action ?

This review of the current state of evidence on the impacts of cash on nutrition outcomes, was an essential preliminary step to develop a set of recommendations on how to support the use of cash transfers for enhanced nutrition outcomes in humanitarian and development programmes. The report provides insights on the key findings and recommendations, as well as the R4ACT process.
